Class Experience

Gabby's Dollhouse! It's a show about a girl who can get tiny, go into a dollhouse, and have adventures with her kitty friends. One of her friends, Cakey, loves to make awesome and fun recipes! Join me to make the best Gabby and Cakey inspired recipes!

*Note: You do not need to watch or follow the Gabby's Dollhouse show in order to participate in the class. This is a social time and cooking class with a theme but no knowledge of the show is required.

Every week we will start with show and tell! Learners are welcome to share something food/cooking related or they can share anything they'd like. Show and tell is optional and learners should only share if they are comfortable.

Then it's cooking time! There will be a pre-arranged scheduled of recipes and learners will receive an ingredient list approximately one week prior to class. Recipes will be chosen based on the interests and requests from the enrolled learners. Recipes will also be easily to follow through a visual presentation of ingredients of instructions. I will also ensure that each leaner is understanding each step of the recipe. I will make sure learners are not lost when following the recipe and will make sure to answer any questions. Learners will learn basic cooking skills and measurement skills. I will also provide a cooking tip of the week!

Here is the upcoming schedule of classes!

Week of:
Sept 10-16: Kitty Rice Cakes (rice cakes, peanut butter or cream cheese, blueberries, bananas, strawberries

Sept 17-23: Sticky Cat Paws (Milk, sugar, butter, baking powder, salt, eggs, flour, oil, brown sugar, cinnamon, cream cheese frosting)

Sept 24-30: Kitty Pizza!
(Pizza dough, pizza sauce, favorite pizza toppings)

Oct 1-7:Noodle Slides!
(Lasagna noodles, tomato sauce, ricotta cheese, mozerella cheese)

Oct 8-14: Sandwich Splurge!
(Bread, favorite lunch meat, favorite cheese, favorite sandwich condiments)

A note on recipes: Some recipes may require cooking (use of stove, oven, etc) but other recipes will be no-cook snacks. I will try to alternate the types of recipes so there is less demand on ingredients and supplies.

It is my sincere passion to share my love of cooking with your learner. Each week, the featured recipe has the potential for your learner to brainstorm their own themed recipe ideas. This can lead to entire themed menus, to new family cooking traditions, to a lifelong love for cooking and baking.

*Depending on the recipe that week, class may run a little over the scheduled time of 45 minutes.
*Adult supervision and assistance is strongly recommended during a class where we use equipment.
Learning Goals
Children will practice public speaking and social skills through show and tell. They will improve fine motor skills, quantities, measurements, listening, following directions and cooking/baking skills. They will learn about cooking and food safety. They will leave the class having prepared a recipe.
