Class Experience

Crayons often don't get taken seriously in the art world, but in this crackled wax mixed media piece, we will use these wonderfully waxy crayons as an art medium! Join Tara Lynn to create this "Funky Flower" painting with acrylic paint and crayons.

The supply list contains some specific materials so please check that out before enrolling! However, they are typically things you have around the house. For this lesson, I encourage the artists to be set up with plenty of space..

We will start by making sure everyone has the supplies needed. We begin our art pieces by drawing the flower onto paper. Then, we will create the crinkly background. To complete the piece, we create a dark wash and voila! Instant masterpiece. Don't worry, this lesson is fun and easy and we will work together step by step!

**THIS IS AN ART BASED LESSON, PLEASE CHECK LEARNER SUPPLY LIST TAB BEFORE ENROLLING**

This lesson will typically take 45 minutes to complete, but can run shorter or longer depending on the needs of the artists.

Learning Goals

This lesson is project based, but students will have the opportunity to work with several art principles. The best way to become an artist is to make art!
Students will independently explore basic elements of art such as line, space, shape, form, texture, value, color, and balance.
Students will independently explore the basic principles of art such as balance, emphasis, harmony, movement, pattern, proportion, repetition, rhythm, unity, and variety.
Students will learn to use various art materials such as acrylic paint and wax and the techniques associated with both mediums.
