1 hour per week. Students will be given 2 one-page assignments to complete outside of class. The first includes creating a pattern with objects they have at their home, taking a picture of it, and posting it in the classroom to share with the class. The second is a page to practice extending and describing given patterns.Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 2
This class is an introduction to the concept of patterns. Designed for young learners, we will read a story about a boy's discovery of patterns in the world, learn how to describe and extend patterns, and finally, learn to create our own patterns. Course Agenda: Day 1 Read the story "Peter's Patterns". Discuss examples of AB and ABC patterns. Duplicate patterns shown by the teacher using colors and hand-drawn objects. Complete one page of homework using objects at home and given shapes on the page. Day 2 Explore the concept of extending and describing patterns. Practice extending patterns using colors and objects. Create patterns using the annotate feature on Zoom. Complete one page of homework.

Students will learn to identify, describe, extend, and create AB, ABC, ABCD, AABB, and other patterns.Other Details
Parental Guidance
Students may require assistance with the selection of safe-to-use objects to create their own patterns at home as well as with taking the picture of their pattern and posting it in the classroom to share with the class.
Supply List
Printed class packet Crayons Found objects at home with which to create a pattern. Examples include buttons, stickers, noodle types, coins, etc.
