Fun with Fractions
In this 4 week course we will work with fractions starting with what they are through adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with them.

In week 1 we will discuss what a fraction is, reducing fractions, and mixed fractions using cards and dominoes. The kids will have the chance to see the fractions and tell me if they are bigger/smaller and what bigger fractions reduce to. In week 2 we will move on and discuss adding fractions with common and uncommon denominators. The kids will be able to ask any questions and determine answers from the board and give me their own fractions to add together. In week 3 we will subtract fractions with common and uncommon denominators. We will review previous weeks before moving on to subtracting the fractions. Just as before we will use cards, dominoes, and student input on what fractions will be used. In week 4 we will multiply and divide with fractions. This is our final week. Any and all questions from previous weeks will be addressed and we will go over multiplying and dividing. Both lessons will be done this week as dividing fractions becomes multiplying. At the end of each week, we will play Kahoot games to help reinforce what we have been learning.

Please have paper and pencil for writing and we will use Kahoot so I will give you the code to get into the class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hi my name is Cassi Gardei. I am a mother of 4 awesome kids, 1 girl and 3 boys. I was a preschool teacher for 6 years in a brick and mortar school and was a professional driving instructor for the state of California for 4 years until Covid hit. I have been working with Outschool since Covid started and am a paraeducator for my local school district. Working with children is my passion and helping them learn and understand everything in new and exciting ways, especially with music for the younger kiddos. I have a bacheolors degree in Mild to Moderate Special Education.
I am looking forward to working with your kids in many areas. My favorite subjects were math and science growing up but I teach a multitude of classes from cooking to preschool to core subjects and even Kahoot games.
