Class Experience

In this class I will cover basic note reading and piano playing. Please remember that you can watch each recording as many times as necessary. My teaching style is patient and fun. Each learner will have the opportunity to share and interact with other learners through videos, discussion, video performances and games.
Students will be provided with a video each week explaining the assignment and exploring specific terminology and technique that is covered in each lesson. I recommend that students practice daily between 5-20 minutes.Students should have a keyboard/ piano to practice at home each day. Students will post videos or sound recordings of themselves playing their assigned music each week and we will discuss ways in which the piece was challenging or simple. We will also discuss how can we use these tools to improve other pieces in the future. I will also send students tips, tricks and encouragement throughout the week. Students can send me a message at any time and I will respond within 24 hours.

After each lesson, students should review and try to play the music in the lesson notes that is sent after each lesson. With consistency and practice, your child will learn to read music.

I am a piano teacher who has studied the art of piano and how students learn, process and retain musical knowledge. I hold a Masters Degree in Arts where I majored in piano. I also double degreed in Music and Accounting undergrad but continued on with music. I have 15 years classroom experience and over 20 years of private piano lesson experience. Currently, I teach piano and chorus at an elementary school for the Arts in Florida. My chorus has performed and won top awards at festivals nationwide as well as being invited to perform in the invitational only festival at Carnegie Hall many of these times. I am proud to say that two of my former students are now Julliard NYC Alumni. Some of my most talented students are nurses, doctors, pre-med students, music teachers, engineers, programmers, dancers, composers and writers. I have learned that giving your learner the best foundation and experiences helps them to develop a strong work ethic in their future pursuits and careers.

How did we get here? Pre-Covid, each afternoon after school, I would drive around the tri-county area in South Florida to teach my private students. I had been doing that for about 13 years and although remote learning intrigued me, I never thought my clients would approve. During the lockdown, all of my students switched over to remote piano lessons and I realized that it wasn't at all different from me being in the same room, sitting next to the piano on the right or left side.
I then decided to apply my knowledge to designing a course on Outschool where I would use the same format as my private lessons. I am constantly trying to improve these formats in order to give my learners the most authentic learning experience possible.

Why take my class?
We have fun! We learn how to play the keyboard/piano using proper technique. Students are provided with lots of materials to succeed with:
1. A Specially Designed Curriculum that is easily adaptable to a variety of learning styles.
2. Video Tutorials
3. Office hours where students can send recordings of pieces for feedback between classes.

I am a mom of a focused and imaginative 7 year old who has inspired a few of my course designs.
I believe that students learn best when they are having fun but are also challenged to think and apply their knowledge. When this is followed by parental encouragement, patience AND practice, a child's musical growth can be exponential.

My courses are designed using my knowledge of piano pedagogy and will help learners to master the basics of keyboard/piano playing and note reading in a short space of time. I have designed and arranged supplemental lessons with video support to boost learning after our lessons.

We laugh, we work and have lots of fun but most importantly, we learn. See you soon!
