Class Experience

Become an on the farm detective and join us on a mystery hunt for six farm animals. In this interactive beginner-level class children will search for clues to help discover what animals live on the farm. They will also learn how to sign the name of each animal they find.

Learning signs for animals tend to be the most fun for children to learn, so to keep them engaged, we will play an interactive ‘what am I’ game to identify the different animals; have fun making animal sounds, singing songs and reciting rhymes.

Through a variety of activities children will practice learning ASL signs for…..
	- horse - sheep - cow - pig - rooster
        - duck - animals - farm

Sign language involves seeing, hearing and movement, the perfect combination of how young children learn best. To accommodate different learning styles, I use the SEE – SAY – SIGN approach where I show a picture of an animal, so children can see it, say the word (i.e. cow), then sign the word (i.e. cow).
Learning Goals
Upon completion of this class children be able to communicate six animal signs in ASL and use ‘key word’ signing to communicate other fun words.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified ‘Time to Sign’ ASL instructor with more than 15 years experience, but I don't teach American Sign Language (ASL). I use ASL to teach ‘key word’ signing. My passion is combining the many components of ASL into my curriculum to promote early literacy, expand alphabet knowledge, improve early math skills and enhance social/emotional development of young learners.

My classes are designed to provide engaging sign and play activities that encourage curiosity and exploration. When children are playing, laughing, and smiling, they are learning!
