I will leave a brief comment for each student after the course.Class Experience
This is a one-time taster class. I will be offering an ongoing class after Easter. Please contact me before the class with topics you would like to cover in this class. I will do my best to accommodate as many suggestions as possible. I would usually cover : Greetings (including the difference between 'tu' and 'vous'). Talking about yourself and understanding what people say about themselves. Basic conversations to buy things in shops, cafés, at the market and ice cream shops - all the essentials! I can include: Counting 0 - 20 (useful for prices, distances and people's ages). Sports - many sports are the same in French as in English, so you can learn a LOT of vocabulary quickly, if sports are your thing. Students will see some written French - mainly signs they will see out and about in France and can have the opportunity to write a few sentences in French if they would like to do so. I am an enthusiastic teacher. I make sure students in my class have lots of opportunity to speak French and I check their understanding. Time permitting, I will include some games, such as Loto and Vrai ou Faux.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to greet people in French, say what their name is, where they live (country or state), how old they are and other information about siblings and pets in a way that a sympathetic native French speaker would be able to understand.
Students will be able to understand simple sentences that I say.
Students will be able to have a conversation in a shop, café, market or ice cream shop to buy items.

Teacher expertise and credentials
2 Degrees
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Bradford College
Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Language from The University of Leeds
Hi and Bonjour from the U.K. Thank you for looking at my profile and considering my classes for your children. I love teaching here on Outschool.
I am Kim Wark. I am English. I was born and brought up in London, but moved to Leeds for university and have lived in Yorkshire ever since.
1) I offer French classes to students of all ages and levels, from 4 year olds to 18 year olds, from Kindergarten to High School level. Classes may include singing, role play, storytelling and games. I have lived and worked in France and spend most school holidays there. I am looking forward to sharing my love of French with your child. When I am in France I teach classes from local places of interest.
2) I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education to teach French and English at secondary school (ages 11-18) and all subjects at Primary Level (ages 4-11).
I also have further qualifications in Special Educational Needs, including autism.
As part of my degree course I taught English for a year in a French school. I have taught pupils aged 3-18 in schools (state, private and Special Schools), students aged 16+ at Colleges and tutored individual students. Here on Outschool I teach students from around the world.
I home-schooled my younger son, who is autistic and has learning difficulties, for 8 years. I discovered the Montessori method and it worked really well for him. I have used a Montessori approach with pupils, including those with SEND.
3) My philosophy has always been to help children do their very best. I have been privileged to teach some amazing children who have made progress beyond what was predicted for them. I was thrilled to celebrate their success with them.
4) When I was about 5 years old my mum took me to a Horse Show because our late queen, Elizabeth II, was attending. Apparently, I piped up in the loud, clear voice of a 5-year-old, 'Mummy, where is the Queen?' She was standing right in front of me, but I didn't recognise her because she wasn't wearing her crown!!! So embarrassing!!!
