Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will learn Spanish at an introductory level. Students will learn to speak and present information in the target language about themselves. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary!
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish. I taught Spanish at a traditional public middle school for 11 years and at a traditional public high school for 3 years. Currently, I am the administrative supervisor and instructional leader of the World Languages Department at a traditional public high school. I have experience teaching all core content areas at the elementary level in a traditional school classroom, as well as in a bilingual classroom. I have been teaching Spanish courses on Outschool since June of 2020.
This is a flexible course. Students will watch the uploaded interactive videos each week, complete the activities during the interactive video, and complete the weekly assignment explained at the end of the video or in the classroom posts. Students will upload the project or assignment to the teacher in the google classroom that is set up for the course for evaluation and feedback. There will be no group work in this course, but students are encouraged to use props and be creative in their presentations! Discussions will take place in a discussion board format in the classroom.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students progress will be assessed through informal assessment and weekly updates through messaging on projects and assignments submitted by the learner.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
All materials for the course will be loaded in the classroom. Videos will be in the classroom via a zip file. Students may want to look up a word in Spanish they would like to use in an assignment that maybe isn't on the list they get each week. They can certainly do so and may use google or a Spanish/English dictionary.
