Homework
1 hour per week. This is a flexible course. Students will watch the uploaded interactive videos each week, complete the activities during the interactive video, and complete the weekly assignment explained at the end of the video or in the classroom posts. Students will upload the project or assignment to the teacher in the google classroom that is set up for the course for evaluation and feedback. There will be no group work in this course, but students are encouraged to use props and be creative in their presentations! Discussions will take place in a discussion board format in the classroom.Assessment
Students progress will be assessed through informal assessment and weekly updates through messaging on projects and assignments submitted by the learner.Class Experience
This course is a beginner level introductory Spanish Course! No prior knowledge of the Spanish language is necessary! Students will learn Spanish in a flexible course format for four weeks. Content each week will include practice, as well as review with concepts learned the previous week, as well as learning new content each week through instructional scaffolding. Guided pronunciation and conversation practice will occur in the target language through the use of a recording of the teacher posts in the classroom presenting the content to be learned each week in a fun, and engaging manner! In the recording, the teacher will use slides, songs, and activities to engage learners! During the week, the teacher will use the classroom page to interact with students virtually and practice the current topic of the week. There is not a live meeting, students will practice using the recording posted in google classroom. Students will interact with the recorded video through skits, songs, chants, and games! Students are encouraged to use props to practice the learned dialogues. Each week, the student will create a product based on learned content to present to the teacher via video recording, voice recording, or project upload. Specific instructions will be posted in the classroom each week. This is optional! The only requirement to join this course is a desire to have fun learning Spanish in a friendly, interactive way! Yay! Content covered each week will include the following: Week 1 - Learn greetings - Ask and answer names - Discuss how they are feeling today - Discuss where they are from - State their age Week 2 - Review week 1 information - Numbers 1-20 - Discuss number of items and how much items cost Week 3 - Review week 1 and 2 information - Learn numbers 20 to 100 - Learn vocabulary to discuss favorite past times or activities in Spanish - Learn to discuss likes, dislikes and loves in regards to favorite past-times or activities Week 4 - Review week 1, 2, and 3 information - Learn to describe oneself - Physical characteristics - Personality traits - Put it all together in a final "Soy Yo" activity!
Learning Goals
Students will learn Spanish at an introductory level. Students will learn to speak and present information in the target language about themselves. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary!

Sources
All materials for the course will be loaded in the classroom. Videos will be in the classroom via a zip file. Students may want to look up a word in Spanish they would like to use in an assignment that maybe isn't on the list they get each week. They can certainly do so and may use google or a Spanish/English dictionary.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish. I taught Spanish at a traditional public middle school for 11 years and at a traditional public high school for 3 years. Currently, I am the administrative supervisor and instructional leader of the World Languages Department at a traditional public high school. I have experience teaching all core content areas at the elementary level in a traditional school classroom, as well as in a bilingual classroom. I have been teaching Spanish courses on Outschool since June of 2020.
