In this one time class, students will use a crayon resist technique creating their own patterned fish design.
Class experience
In this lesson, students will be able to create a crayon resist patterned fish using watercolor. I will be discussing the elements of art as we draw and paint and I will teach basic watercolor techniques, hints, and tricks. I will first do a directed drawing of the actual design using crayon while the students follow along. We will then go over our entire design with watercolor paint to fill in all of the empty space. Students will improve their understanding of drawing, the crayon resist method, and watercolor painting techniques. They will also improve their understanding of the elements of art, specifically line, form, texture, value, and color.
Students will need paper, crayons, watercolor paint, a water dish, and a paint brush.
