Class Experience

This typing class is offered to learners who have taken Part 1 of this class. Certificate of Participation will need to be on-file with Dr. Weldon and/or student can take an Assessment Test in order to take this class. The teacher will be monitoring the progress of each student by making suggestions for improvement. The gamification of the class allows the learners to learn and have fun through a video-game-like atmosphere.

Learners must be in attendance during all class meeting times on Outschool's Zoom account to receive the Certificate of Participation.

The teacher will be following along with the learners' activities. Whenever the learner experiences any difficulties, the teacher will discuss the students' performances through video-chat sessions to give encouragement and recommendations.

REQUIRED: "QWERTY" keyboard required connected to a laptop or desktop. Look on your top left side of your keyboard for the keys to spell "QWERTY". Tablets do not work too well fo the typing part but excellent for the ZOOM communication part.

Lessons are through an adventure story. Join Alex on an out-of-this-world journey as he helps his mysterious new friend get back home to another planet.

The class structure, each week, will consist of:

1. Key Introduction:  A score-free practice environment which provides written instructions on the correct finger placement;

3.  Videos: Students are taught about keyboarding, proper posture, and the importance of taking breaks while working on a computer;
4. Games: Each game is focused on improving different typing skills.

The learners will earn badges throughout the course. They will also receive a certificate after their completion of this class.
