Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 6
You have just found the best one-on-one math tutor for your child! My teaching style is fun, positive, relaxed, supportive, stress free and successful. With over 20 years of experience teaching math, I know how frustrating it can be for students when they just don't get it, feel behind or are too afraid to ask questions in class. I have a huge passion for helping these students. I want to relieve that stress and help them feel more confident when they walk in their math class each day. They can ask me any questions. If they just need help with their homework, then I'm here for them. If they need help studying for the big test coming up, then I'm here for them. If you know something specific they need review on, then send me a quick message before class so I can gather some helpful resources. If you don't know, maybe you just feel like saying, everything, no problem. I am familiar with the math skills they need in grades 5th -6th. I am also willing to receive requests from their math teacher. The teacher they see everyday can usually help pinpoint what they specifically need help with.
All your child needs is a notebook, to write some sample problems in, their homework if they have some, and a willingness to learn.
**Please send me a message if you are looking for a different time or length of session. I will do my best to work our schedules together.
I look forward to seeing my future math star!

Hello! My name is Stacy Pledger "Teacher Stacy." I am excited to teach math here on Outschool. I have been teaching math for almost twenty years. I taught six and seventh grade math for seventeen years in the brick and mortar school. I was the sixth grade dean for two years. I have been teaching math and ESL on line for three and a half years. I have a huge passion for helping students learn math. It is so important that students have a strong foundation of their basic math skills. We all know, math builds upon itself. Your student will be so much more confident going to the next level when they have a stronger foundation of their basic math skills. What is the key to building that foundation? Repetition! We will spend a lot of time practicing practicing and practicing on our whiteboards. We may even make a little competition out of it. We need to spice up the math fun! haha
I will offer classes of all the basic math skills from the sixth grade level. So look out for these upcoming classes. If your child is in fourth to seventh grade and they need a stronger foundation of these basic skills, then this is the place for them.
I earned a bachelors degree in Public Relations from the University of Florida. Go gators! Many years ago I started out working in MLS, Major League Soccer, the NFL, National Football League, and Walt Disney World. But with many educators in my family, watching and learning from them, I quickly realized my passion was in teaching too.
While in the brick and mortar school, I was also the girls track and field coach for nine years. I also started the first ever triathlon team in middle school.
When I am not teaching, you can find me swimming, biking, running, kayaking, hiking or camping. I am a huge outdoors person and I am a four time Ironman triathlete finisher. My husband and I have five fur babies. Four cats and one big dog.
I look forward to meeting your amazing student! Thank you for choosing me as their teacher.
See you soon!
