I love Math and Programming! Finding ways to make learning fun and giving strategies to children so they can overcome the challenge of being successful in Math, Programming, and Science is my passion. I have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, so I took college level finite math, algebra, and geometry in addition to learning BASIC, COBOL, JCL, Dyl-280, DB2, SQL, dbase+, Ada, Pascal, C+, PHP, HTML5, and JavaScript. While earning my MBA Marketing & Market Research, I successfully completed two semesters of statistics. My work experience includes 5+ years as computer programmer, 10+ years in statistical data analysis as a Market Research Consultant, 10+ years as an ECE educator including math tutoring with K to 6th grade, 10+ years as private math tutor and Sylvan Instructor for 1st to 12th grade students, and tutoring young adults for math portion of SAT, GMAT, and GRE.

1. Workbook for optional homework: McGraw-Hill Education Math, Grade 6, THIRD Edition 2. Paper and Pencil 3. Please note in this class we will be using annotation tools for Zoom White Board to practice math problems. Unfortunately, Chromebook does NOT allow students to annotate on Zoom White Board so your child will need a different device. If a desktop with mouse, or laptop with touchpad/mouse is not available for student, iPad or tablets do allow annotation.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
“Kahoot! is a global learning platform company. Kahoot! games can be played anywhere, in person or virtually, using any device with an internet connection.” A Kahoot! game is a quiz with multiple choice answers and the games include topics such as Year End Math Assessment. Kahoot! is a fun way to test a student's knowledge of a math topic such as adding fractions, multiplying decimals, solving for area of a rectangle. Kahoot! app is free and does not require an account. The teacher provides the website link (http://www.kahoot.it) and a game pin then the student creates a silly screen name; thus, no account is needed, and no personal information is given to Kahoot! “Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computing, history, art history, economics, and more, including K-14 and test preparation (SAT, Praxis, LSAT) content. We focus on skill mastery to help learners establish strong foundations, so there's no limit to what they can learn next!” Khan Academy is also a free app. "At IXL Learning, we are passionate about improving learning for all. We apply technology in thoughtful and innovative ways to unlock students' innate curiosity, creativity, and desire for knowledge. IXL Learning acquired Education.com in 2019. Education.com offers 30,000 digital and printable learning resources, including worksheets, online games, hands-on activities, lesson plans, and more, for preschool through eighth grade." Since IXL and Education.com are paid services, teacher will share screen of her account/worksheets so free to all students.
