Full First Grade Math Curriculum - Standards Based Lessons and Games

This is an Ongoing Year-Long 1st Grade Math Curriculum Class, so your child is able to enroll and unenroll at any point throughout the year.  I have taught the past 5 years as a first-grade teacher in the public school setting and am currently a licensed teacher.  This curriculum I am teaching on Outschool is inspired by the math schedule, practices, routines, and games that helped my students exceed their math goals in the classroom.  Each lesson in this ongoing class will stand on its own, but students who continue with the class will gain a full year of first grade standard based skills.  Kids need to be engaged in order to learn, and that is why I am not only teaching a lesson during our time together, but we will also play math review games at the end of each lesson.  During our lessons together, I will be presenting a Google Slide Presentation where we will go over the topics of the day through various activities.  

Our class layout looks like this:
1. Check-In and Question of the Day (chat time) - 5 minutes
2. Math Warm Up - 5 minutes
3. Math Lesson and Activities - 20 minutes
4. Math Review Game - 10 minutes

 Your child will need a whiteboard and marker (or pencil and paper) for each class.  Different classes may need other items, as well, so make sure to check the Classroom Tab on Outschool, where I will tell you what items are needed, to make sure your child comes to class prepared!  Other items may include dice, a deck of cards, counters, or printables posted in the Outschool Classroom.  Here is an overview of what the year will look like:

⭐️ Week of October 24th: Practice Subtraction with Different Strategies
⭐️ Week of October 31st: Exploring Unknowns with Math Mountains
⭐️ Week of November 7th: Subtraction and Addition Stories and Strategies - Finding Unknown Partners and Totals
⭐️ Week of November 14th: Counting Pennies and Nickels, Money Word Problems
⭐️ WEEK OF NOVEMBER 21ST: NO CLASS!
⭐️ Week of November 28th: Place Value, Representing 10s and 1s, Adding 10 to a Decade Number
⭐️ Week of December 5th: Story Problems with Groups of 10, Adding Decade Numbers
⭐️ Week of December 12th: Counting on From a Decade Number, Group a New Decade
⭐️ WEEK OF DECEMBER 19TH: NO CLASS!
⭐️ Week of December 26th: NO CLASS!
⭐️ Week of January 2nd: Counting Dimes and Pennies, Story Problems with Dimes and Pennies
⭐️ Week of January 9th: Review Nickels, Dimes, and Pennies
⭐️ Week of January 16th: Making Coin Amounts, Using the Fewest Amount of Coins
⭐️ Week of January 23rd: 
⭐️ Week of January 30th: Adding 10 to a 2-digit number, Partners that Equal 100, Money Word Problems
⭐️ Week of February 6th: Story Problems with Addition to a Teen Number and Subtraction From a Teen Number 
⭐️ Week of February 13th: Creating and Interpreting Data With Picture Graphs and Bar Graphs, How Many More and How Many Fewer
⭐️ Week of February 20th: Creating and Interpreting Data With Tables, Comparison Word Problems
⭐️ Week of February 27th: Rotate Shapes, Patterns With Rotations, Define Trapezoids, Parallelograms, and Hexagons
⭐️ Week of March 6th: Sort, Classify, and Explore 3D Shapes (cubes, sphere, cylinder, cone, and rectangular prism)
⭐️ Week of March 13th: Analog and Digital Clocks, Telling Time to the Hour
⭐️ Week of March 20th: Telling Time to the Hour and Half Hour
⭐️ Week of March 27th: Representing Money Amounts with 10-sticks and Circles and Dimes, Nickels, and Pennies
⭐️ Week of April 3rd: Introduce Quarters, Counting Quarters, Dimes, Nickels, and Pennies up to $1.00
⭐️ Week of April 10th: 2-Digit Addition in Vertical Form
⭐️ Week of April 17th: 2-Digit Addition with the Show All Totals Method
⭐️ Week of April 24th: 2-Digit Addition with Word Problems and Money Amounts
⭐️ Week of May 1st: Classifying and Sorting Items into Categories with Venn Diagrams
⭐️ Week of May 8th: Multiple Step Problems (ex: adding 3 numbers together)
⭐️ Week of May 15th: Multiple Step Problems (ex: adding 3 numbers together)
⭐️ Week of May 22nd: Measuring Using Rulers and Objects
⭐️ Week of May 29th: Recognizing Unnecessary Information in Story Problems

*This class will start over again in September 2024.

➡️ I prefer to keep learners unmuted, however there may be times where I need to mute students due to background noise or other factors.  On occasion I may mute the whole class so that everyone has a chance to hear the game directions or the person speaking.
