Description
Class Experience
This is an Ongoing Year-Long 1st Grade Math Curriculum Class, so your child is able to enroll and unenroll at any point throughout the year. I have taught the past 5 years as a first-grade teacher in the public school setting and am currently a licensed teacher. This curriculum I am teaching on Outschool is inspired by the math schedule, practices, routines, and games that helped my students exceed their math goals in the classroom. Each lesson in this ongoing class will stand on its own,...
If students continue with this class throughout the year, they will be introduced to all of the first-grade math standards. By the end of this class student should be able to add and subtract numbers up to 20, complete patterns, tell time to the hour and half hour, count pennies, nickels, and dimes up to $1.00, understand math word problems, interpret and create graphs, measure the length of objects, identify 2D and 3D shapes, and write their numbers up to 120.
I currently hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (K-6). I taught 1st grade for the past five years in the public school setting and 5th grade for two years before that!
I will not be assigning any homework for this class, however students may have worksheets that we work on in class that can be completed during outside class time. Students will also receive copies of some of the games we play to practice and enhance their math skills at home.
A whiteboard and whiteboard marker (or pencil and paper) *Check the Outschool Classroom tab to see if students will need any additional items in class for that week. Other items may include dice, a deck of cards, counters, or printables posted in the Outschool Classroom.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
