Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗠𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻?
In this class, we will learn and practice the mechanics of writing sentences and then paragraphs. Each class will scaffold the child's learning, emphasizing grammar, structure and readability. In the beginning, I will assess what a child knows, then begin to practice those skills. When the child can demonstrate proficiency, we will move on to more advanced skills. Classes are individualized to the learner. Skills covered in this series of ongoing classes include capitalization, punctuation, nouns, verbs, simple subjects, adjectives, adverbs and expression. We will move into writing paragraphs as the child shows readiness by constructing paragraphs and stories. In writing paragraphs, skills will include identifying the main idea, beginning and ending a paragraph and use of adverbs and adjectives to add clarity and interest.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗻 You 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗘𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸?
Each class will begin with greetings and warm up. First, we will review the previous lesson. Then, we will practice skills using annotation, games, and independent writing. Homework will be included, once weekly.
𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲
Students will be encouraged and guided with patience as they learn these essential skills. Keep in mind, some children take more time and others take less time, to learn the same skills. I will use a variety of teaching methods, until we find the right ones for your child. I encourage adults to let me know of any particular skills the child may need extra practice with, according to other teachers and the parents observations. Children will evaluate their work, alongside the teacher, so they can see where they need improvement and practice.
𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁
This class will be conducted as a one to one session, except in the case of twins or siblings, where parents may enroll both children if they are similar in learning skills.

Teaching writing skills, is something I have especially enjoyed. Creative writing, technical writing and journaling are all things I write and enjoy. I teach English as a second language and teaching writing skills to non-English speaking students is especially challenging, giving me plenty of practice in instructing children in the art of writing. I hold a degree in Elementary education and have taught grades 2-5 in both public and private schools. I have numerous published articles as a former newsletter editor and as a freelance ghost-writer.
