US Grade 7 - 8
In this 8-week summer camp, students will focus on retaining KEY 7th-grade skills that were learned and developed during the school year and are needed to be successful in 8th grade. This class is ideal for students that are going from 7th grade to 8th grade in the fall. Students should understand integers, fractions, number sense, and the algebraic process to be ready for this course. The following topics will be covered over the eight week period Week 1-Factors Week 2-Exponents Week 3 and 4-One-step algebraic equations Week 5 and 6-Two-step algebraic equations Week 7-Classifying numbers Week 8-Inequalities The class will meet live 2 times per week, and virtually 2 times per week. During live meetings, I will introduce and teach new concepts that will be further discussed and practiced during the virtual meetings. During live meetings, students will also participate in lectures and small group assignments. During virtual meetings, students will practice the skills that were taught during the live meeting. Each student receives access to an online IXL math account to complete the practice assignments. Both live and virtual meetings will require lots of interaction with the learners and participation is a must.
