This girls group is focused on how to find, build, and maintain friendships in middle school and beyond. We will base much of our work on the book "Friends: Making Them and Keeping Them" by Patti Kelley Criswell. Session 1: Friend finders, conversation starts, and when you feel shy. Students will understand how to find, build, and keep friendships with others in their life. They will learn how to be a good friend, a careful listener, and a mindful companion.

Students may, but do not need, get their own copy of "Friends: Making Them and Keeping Them" by Patti Kelley Criswell. They do not need the book to participate in the course.
This class will focus on hypothetical friendships - the teacher will actively limit the amount of personal information shared by each student, and will ensure that students are only exposed to friendship stories that are hypothetical, platonic, and otherwise age-appropriate.
This course is based on the book "Friends: Making Them and Keeping Them" by Patti Kelley Criswell.
