Class Experience

Beginner Level
French Summer Camp is intended to be a fun and factual introduction to French language and culture. The main language of the sessions is French and all students are encouraged to practise speaking the language with myself and each other as much as possible, however they may wish to ask some questions in English in order to help their understanding of language or topics.
Session 1 : Introduction - what we already know in French. We already use quite a few French words when we speak English without realising, e.g. baguette, croissant, promenade, cul-de-sac.
How to introduce oneself with name, age, and something you love. Numbers 1-20.
We will also take a look at where French is spoken around the world.
Session 2: Expressing likes and dislikes. Some students might feel confident to start giving simple reasons for why they like and dislike things, e.g. it's exciting, it's fun, it's boring.
We will look at what young French children enjoy doing in their free time.
Session 3: Family and pets. Please note that the vocabulary in this session will be inclusive with regards to families.
We will take a look at the most popular pets in France and also take a trip to the zoo to learn the vocabulary for some well known wild animals.
Session 4: Describing where you live and your hometown.
We will build on cultural capital by looking at different types of homes in different French-speaking countries.
Session 5: Talking about favourite sports and free time activities.
Final session quiz.
Certificates will be awarded to all students who complete the camp.

I will provide all online resources, but it would be useful for students to be equipped with paper for writing, drawing and basic stationery.
