Doris Sandra Avoum:
Bonjour!
I’m Doris and teaching languages is my passion and my full time job. I’m from Cameroun and I live in USA. I love speaking French. I have studied French for about 18 years and I have been teaching it for 3 years. I have a Master degree in Medical Anthropology from the University of Yaoundé 1.
In my experience as a teacher, I’ve met people with multiple learning goals, so I can say I’m a flexible patient teacher and I’m able to adapt a lesson to different ways of learning and needs. I love interacting with students and being part of their learning process.
During my lessons, I prefer to use a communicative approach whether to study vocabulary, pronunciation or active grammar. That is, in other words, I focus on the use of the language and try to create a 100% French speaking environment progressively.
Regarding grammar teaching, I use both an inductive and deductive approach. For instance, you can discover the rules through different activities that require your engagement and interaction or I can explain to you any aspect of grammar by giving you the rules and practicing with examples and exercises. Sometimes we can do one of these ways or both in the same lesson, taking into account your learning style.
