French Christmas Class: Learn Christmas Vocabulary and Play Bingo!
Students will have fun pretending to wake up Christmas night and go downstairs to see what’s the matter. They will learn the French words for all things Christmas. At the end of class, we will play a fun game of bingo!

Bonjour! In this class, we will pretend to wake up on Christmas morning and students will learn the French vocabulary words for all things Christmas. I will use a slideshow to create a Christmas setting and introduce the vocabulary words . We will finish lesson with a game (or two) of bingo. This will reinforce the vocabulary they’ve been introduced to during the lesson. During this lesson, I will be speaking English and French because it is a beginner’s class. I want my students to feel comfortable and have fun learning a new language. I will often ask my students to repeat after me because I want them to practice speaking French. Students will learn how to say words such as Santa Claus, presents, Christmas tree, snow, etc. They will also be introduced to some simple sentences like “Je vois ____” (I see___) and “J’aime____” (I like ___). I always encourage my students to practice correct pronunciation with me. Students will be left unmuted unless there is a lot of background noise.

Hello!
My name is Yvonne and I am a certified elementary school teacher in Quebec, Canada. I have 5 years of experience teaching in a classroom setting and over three years of experience teaching ESL online.
I am a stay-at-home mom at the moment. I have three boys under the age of 8 that keep me very busy. I'm so excited to have found Outschool because I have missed being in the classroom and teaching subjects that I love. I believe students learn the best when they feel comfortable in the classroom. I engage my students by being genuine, encouraging, patient, and funny. Building rapport and relationships with my students is as important as the content of the lesson.
I have a passion for languages and speak three myself (English, French, and Swiss German). I also get by in Spanish and German. I will be creating French classes for beginners. I want my students to enjoy learning a new language and feel comfortable enough to speak it in my class.
I also really love travelling and have been lucky enough to have visited many countries in Europe, South America, and Africa. I will be offering classes that take us around the world. Some of my travel classes will have a different focus (animals, food, extreme weather, etc.) while others will be more general but focus on a specific country.
I also really enjoy teaching through the use of picture books and will be creating a variety of lessons based on some of my favourite books. I will be creating lessons that focus on making connections as readers. I also enjoy teaching my students the writing process by first exploring different themes and topics that connect with them.
