Let's read-in French! In this 6 class course, students will read the book 'Pauvre Anne' written by Blaine Ray. Students will read the assigned chapter at home, prior to class. The teachers will send comprehension and further thinking questions before each class. Students may use these questions to analyze and prepare for the conversations we will have in class, in French. The teacher will facilitate a conversation among students in French based on the questions sent prior to class. During class, students will also review grammar topics from the chapters and new vocabulary to grow their understanding of the target language. This class is for leaners who have studied French before. Students should know the basic, present tense and be familiar with level I vocabulary. Parents will need to purchase the book prior to class. Students will need to prepare their thoughts in French prior to class so they are an active part of the conversation and learning process. The teacher will always post the topics for the next class a week in advance. I look forward to working with your learner-in French!

I am a licensed French teacher grades preK-12 and I would love to meet your student in my class! I have over 10 years teaching experience in-person and over 3 years teaching experience online with students ages 4-14. See you soon!
I have lived for a year in Aix-en-Provence, France where I taught ESL in a private school. I have also traveled to Quebec, Canada 4 times with my middle school students. In the classroom for over 10 years, I have been required to teach about over 20 francophone countries as a requirement of the Virginia Standards of Learning for French. In addition, my classes always follow the National Foreign Language Association’s 5 C’s of language learning, which includes culture. In this course, students will learn about 10 different francophone countries. They will learn where they are on a map, why they speak French, and how French in used in their country.
