Fraction Operations - The Basics
This is a 4-week course designed specifically for learners in 5th through 7th grade who are eager to learn fraction operations. Week one will consist of adding fractions, week two will consist of subtracting fractions, etc.

Assessments will happen at the end each class during our wrap-up section of the class. Students will be given a question to answer based on the days learning and report their answers to me. All students will be asked to complete the assessment, but it is not required. This will allow me to gauge how they are doing at the end of each class before the next week starts.Class Experience

- Instruction/Mini Lesson: I will start by introducing the concepts and tasks for the day. Breaking each part down for the students. - Guided Practice: Together we will complete examples, and apply what we know and what we are learning to in a supportive setting. Stopping frequently to ask students questions, and allow them to ask their own questions. - Independent Practice: You'll have the opportunity to practice on your own, applying the days lessons to ensure mastery of the concepts. - Wrap Up: We will conclude each day by reflecting on what was learned.

2. Students will be able to find the LCM and GCF of different groups of numbers.
3. Students will be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and mixed numbers.

Reviewing Fractions
We will look at the parts of a fraction and what a fraction is. Students will engage in activities that focus on simplifying fractions and comparing and ordering fractions.

Lesson 2:
Adding & Subtracting Part 1
Week 2 will focus on concepts that support adding and subtracting fractions. We will look at common denominators, greatest common factor (GCF), and least common multiple (LCM). Students will take this knowledge into week 3 for the final concept of adding and subtracting fractions.

Lesson 3:
Adding & Subtracting Part 2
Week 3 will focus on using greatest common factor (GCF), least common multiple (LCM), and common denominators in order to solve fraction problems using addition and subtraction.

Lesson 4:
Multiplying & Dividing
In our final week students will learn about improper fractions, mixed numbers, and how to multiple and divide fractions. This class will include review of multiplication facts, as well as, learning the secrets of fraction division.
