Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
Students will get to practice many different math concepts weekly in this class. We will cover fractions, percentages, decimals, ratios, and more. This class is great for students who are just learning these concepts or for students who want to review and practice these concepts. When students are learning new concepts I encourage them to do the work by hand. Later on when they have mastered the concept, feel free to introduce a calculator.

Student interactions: I do check in with all students during my math classes. I do my best to make sure we all are understanding and not leaving a student confused. Please let me know if you don't want me to check in with your student. I do prefer students keep their videos on if possible to encourage interactions during class.

Here is a sample of the schedule for this class. It is subject to change depending on the students who enroll. I try to be flexible and meet the needs of my students.
**Schedule is subject to change, but should still review concepts related to fractions, percentages, and decimals**

Week 1- Fraction practice
Week 2- Word problems with fractions
Week 3- Decimals, an introduction
Week 4- Decimal practice
Week 5 - Converting between fractions & decimals
Week 6 - Percentages
Learning Goals
Students will be able to work on any math problems that contain fractions or decimals. They will be able to convert between fractions, decimals, or percentages.

Hello!

UPDATE: I am taking a break from Outschool. After the spring semester of 2024 ends, I will take a hiatus.

I offer a variety of science and math classes. I have close to ten years of teaching experience. I've worked with students of all ages including young adults. I experience teaching in the classroom and teaching virtually. I have a B.A. from Louisiana State University.

I've helped tutoring student reach their goals whether it's to pass a standardized test or get a passing grade in a course.

I think that a basic understanding of science enhances one's life. It opens up a world hidden to most people. Studying science and math helps children to develop critical thinking skills that can be applied to all areas of life. My goal in all my classes is to inspire the students to study science. I want them to always ask questions and to stay curious.

Please reach out to me if you don't see a time that works for your child. I will try to be accommodating if it is possible.

When I am not teaching or prepping for classes, I enjoy crafting, reading, working out, and spending time with my dog.

"If you are scientifically literate the world looks very different to you. And that understanding empowers you." -Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson

**All classes are taught with an evolutionary perspective and according to Outschool's policies.**
