Class Experience

US Grade 4
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Learning place value is an important skill as it provides the foundation for learning basic operations in math. By the end of this course students will know how to read and write numbers up to the millions, understand that each place value is ten times greater than the previous place value and be able to convert between each set of values.

Each lesson is divided into three parts:
Minilesson: where I demonstrate the skill of the day
Guided practice: where students practice the skill with my guidance
Independent practice: where students reinforce math skills and receive a video for self-correction, allowing them to identify their strengths and areas needing improvement

Since this is a self paced class, students can go through the course at their own pace to suit their personal learning style and schedule however, for maximum retention and practice one lesson a day is recommended.

Materials needed for this class are a small whiteboard, pencils, printed material, crayons and scissors. I also recommend having either page protectors and/or Ziplock bags to put activities in that you can use again later and they can also be used to write on for a reusable worksheet if desired.

I have included below some additional information and opportunities for your learners. Let me know if you have any further questions and/or comments.

Debbie

Welcome! My name is Debbie and I am a certified teacher with a Bachelors of Science in Education with a concentration in the visual arts. I also hold Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and I am working on getting one in Technology as well. I have been lucky enough throughout my career to have taught grades K through 6 and be a math and reading interventionist. Math is one of my favorite subjects to teach and I love thinking of creative ways to get students to love it too and gain confidence.

My most popular class is my 1:1 tutoring class, but I do offer group full curriculum classes as well for first, second, third and fourth grades. I also hosts many self paced classes that meet a skill specific need.
