This ESL-friendly class offers 8 one-on-one reading help sessions for students who love cats and nature! Together, we will read original stories about Pumpkin and Marigold the Cats and sometimes Poochie the Pup tags along. These two curious friends with big personalities have many adventures. They discover interesting things about nature as they make new animal friends. We will first review important vocabulary words, checking for pronunciation and understanding. We will read the story together, getting vital reading practice, and pausing to practice difficult phonics and words. With each story we finish, we will complete a story map to practice skills for remembering and understanding what was read. After each story, we will have a step-by-step drawing session where we will draw an animal from the story. Each story will likely take two sessions to complete. *Each week will follow the same format. Learners can pick from several Pumpkin and Marigold stories. As we finish each story we will complete a story map and have a step-by-step drawing session. *Some of the stories to choose from include: Bored Housecats in the City! The Cats Meet a Butterfly! The Cats Meet a Toad! The Cats Meet a Snake! The Cats Meet a Rabbit Family! The Cats Meet the Raccoons! The Cats Save a Puppy! The Cats Discover Fall! The Cats Discover Spring!
