Welcome to Success in Learning Reading! Throughout our time together your learner will focus on strengthening their reading skills. Skills include phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and other skills deemed necessary for success. We will work on these skills in a variety of ways such as songs, rhythms, movement, and games taking a multisensory approach. This class will be highly individualized to meet your learners needs and help them gain confidence in their abilities. The first class will be for assessing your learners abilities and seeing where they need support. Any information you provide on your child's needs will be taken into account. For each additional classes a plan will be put in place to support your learner so they can be successful in the classroom. Each week will work on various skills to improve the learner's reading. Example: Week one: Assess students abilities, introduce sight words, phonemic awareness skills, read a book, work on reading strategy for the day. Week two: Sight word practice, phonemic awareness skills, read a book, reading strategy, work on other most needed skills Week three: Sight word practice, phonemic awareness skills, read a book, reading strategy, work on other most needed skills Week four: Sight word practice, phonemic awareness skills, read a book, reading strategy, work on other most needed skills
