Personalized Fortnite Lessons Focused on Game Design

Welcome to Personalized Fortnite lessons focused on game design, a personalized tutoring experience perfect for kids in grades 5-10 who have a passion for 3D video games and want to learn how to create their own. This class offers a tailored introduction to game design using Fortnite's Creative Mode, with individualized attention to help each student succeed.

This 1-on-1 course is designed with a student-centered approach, focusing entirely on your child’s learning journey. We encourage you to sign up for at least 8 personalized sessions, each lasting 55 minutes, your child will develop their skills in a fun and engaging way at their own pace. That way they can learn the ins and outs of the software.

We’ll begin by introducing the fundamentals of 3D first-person shooter (FPS) design principles, which will serve as the foundation for the rest of the course. With a focus on variables, functions, conditional statements, loops, and triggers—key concepts in game development—your child will gain practical experience through daily build challenges. These challenges simulate what it's like to be a real game developer, giving students a sense of achievement and progress.

Throughout the sessions, your child will:

Develop 3D worlds, puzzles, and challenges while exploring how to build immersive game environments.

Create puzzles in a game environment that incorporate variables, understand collision detection, and design obstacle courses with triggers and events.

Learn about conditional statements and functions to create interactive game elements.

Apply their understanding of loops to compose looping musical scores for game backgrounds.

Each session will be customized to your child’s interests and skill level. The one-on-one format ensures personalized feedback and support, fostering confidence and creativity in game design.

No prior experience is necessary to join this course. However, students should have an interest in game design and basic computer skills. Access to a computer with Fortnite's Creative Mode installed is required.
