50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Ready, set, LET'S DROP! In this class, we will learn (or review if you have already learned) how to calculate area and perimeter... FORTNITE STYLE! (PLEASE NOTE: If you have taken my Minecraft Area and Perimeter class, this lesson is very similar and may be redundant. I would recommend choosing one or the other! :) ) We will start our class off by sharing something about ourselves (you may bring a Fortnite object or share something you would like about the game). We will then learn about finding area and perimeter through interactive Fortnite slides. Don't worry- I won't be doing all of the talking! There will be plenty of sharing ideas and answers from YOU! We will have fun exploring the Fortnite map and doing some calculations together, as a team. The last portion of class will be dedicated to creating YOUR OWN Fortnite map! I will be making my own map, right along side you. We will make time at the end of class for those that would like to share their maps and calculations. Please note, students take ownership of their maps and enjoy making their creations very detailed. Therefore, maps may not be fully completed by the end of class- but that's okay! You will have the tools and knowledge to continue to complete your map after class. Be sure to share your finished map and calculations with us!
Learning Goals
By the end of class, students will be able to apply the area and perimeter formulas in real world and mathematical problems.
