If requested, Coach Chris will provide parents with a written, informal assessment of their student's learning in the topic of NFL football.Class Experience
This class is for students who don't know or understand the game of football but are eager to learn the basics so they can discuss the topic with friends or family and not feel left out. In this one-time, 45min class, students will learn the basics of American (NFL, National Football League) football. We will review the basic format of the sport; how scoring works; the general rules of the game; review of common football terminology; understanding the league & team structures of the NFL; and we will review the teams in each division and conference and their general standings each season. There will be an original slide show presentation but much of the time will be spent answering questions of the football-curious students.
Learning Goals
By the end of class, your students will know the basic structure of the game of American football. They will know common terminology heard throughout the games. They will understand how scoring is recorded. They will understand the basic rules of the game. During class students will learn the names and purpose for each position on the field. Coach Chris will review the 32 teams of the NFL and the divisions and conferences to which they belong. She will review the biggest team rivalries and general team histories. After taking this class, students will feel confident in participating in football discussions among friends and classmates. They will feel more comfortable watching football games with family, friends and class peers.

Students may want to jot down notes during class as football rules & scoring can be complex. Coach Chris encourages students to bring their questions to class.

Coach Chris Dee is currently an on-air radio personality (since 2010) and is co-hosting a short, weekly football talk show on her station. She has also been a primary school P.E. instructor and group fitness class instructor and personal trainer for over 15 years. Each school year, Coach Chris reviews the basics of American football with her primary school classes.
