Class Experience
In this 4 week flex class we will be making a fondant covered cake start to finish. Students do not need prior knowledge to do this course but they must be able to kneed the fondant and use a rolling pin. Class videos will be posted each Monday you will have the week to complete the project. Week 1: We will bake a cake. We will be baking two small 6 inch round cakes. We will then give them time to cool and learn how to level them so they will be ready for frosting and stacking. After this your cake will be put in the freezer to use for future classes. Week 2: We will be making fondant. Week 3: We will be making butter cream frosting. You will then be learning how frost and stack your cake. Then you will be learning how to cover your cake with the butter cream frosting. Week 4: The week that we have all been waiting for! You will be covering your cake with your fondant. I will be teaching you how to kneed it, roll it, cover your cake, and make decorations. This is a Flex class so we will not be meeting in person but we will be interacting with each other through the classroom. Every week I will post 3 questions that you need to answer in the classroom. You will also need to upload a picture or video every week of what you have made. You need to leave at least one positive message to another student in the classroom each week. Every week I will post a link to a Kahoot game that you will need to go and play with your classmates. From these interactions you will be learning, gaining ideas, and featuring your work. Every week I will have office hours for the class so that you can ask questions and I will be able to answer them. I would be happy to set up a time with you to video chat if you need any help. Most weeks you will need to dedicate about an hour to two hours for each lesson. Week four might take you over 2 hours depending on how detailed you want to be in your decorating. When you have shared your final project, I will send you a certificate of completion.
