This class is perfect for all flower lovers! We will practice creating beautiful floral sketches and paintings over the course of 3 days. The first day will introduce students to some basic flower sketches, including composition, leaf styles, and shading techniques. Only a pen is needed! The other days will allow students to dabble in watercolour paints, and by the end of the last class, students will have a finished watercolour project including their favourite flowers. We will learn how to sketch and paint a variety of flowers, including roses, daisies, lavender, peonies, and five petalled flowers! They will be able to follow along with me at an easy pace. I will be instructing them through each step, and they will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with each other. Students would benefit from having some experience with watercolour paints, as we won't be covering the basics techniques associated with watercolours. Day 1: - Sketching single flowers and bundles of flowers - Sketching leaves Day 2: - Introduction to painting single flowers with watercolours - Painting leaves and stems Day 3: - Painting a bouquet or bundle of flowers

In my classroom, I like to turn the phrase "jack of all trades, master of none" on its head. No matter your skill level or age, there's no better way to satisfy your creative or intellectual itch than by trying new things. Here you'll find a hodgepodge of classes to satisfy any learner; from the most studious, to the most creative. Calligraphy and card making, primatology, photography, ancient ruins, evolution, books, and film are some of my dearest passions that I hope to share with you!
I have been teaching for 1 year as a community dance, art, and sports instructor, and as an online ESL teacher since September 2020. I graduated from Simon Fraser University with an honours degree in archaeology, a minor in biology, and a certificate in biological anthropology. I've always been happiest when I can pursue academic interests plus a creative outlet, so I like to cater to both avenues.
I strongly believe that exploring different interests should be accessible and fun, without the stressful commitment of visiting a stuffy classroom every week. My hope is to provide a relaxed, upbeat environment where children feel empowered to pursue their interests and grow them into lifelong passions. I love learning and my goal is to help others fall in love with learning, too!
