After each section has been edited, students will apply my suggestions to each part of their story. Each part will be used to ultimately build a seamless, polished short story.Assessment

In this four-week FLEX class, students will learn about creative writing using various classic Robert Munch Stories. Each week, I will begin our lesson with three different videos: 1. Introduction to a specific writing concept 2. Reading of a story Robert Munch story 3. Explanation of assigned weekly activity Robert Munch stories will be used to enhance the specific anatomy of creative story writing being discussed for the week. Students will learn how a Robert Munch book is actually made and pertinent writing terms such as: author, editor, illustrator, protagonist, conflict. Students will learn pertinent brainstorming techniques that will be used to write their own short story. Over the four weeks, students will build each part of their short story including: character(s), a setting, a problem and a solution. Each week, students will be assigned a different part of their own story to write and submit and I will review and make comments on their work. Each edited section will be used to build a completed, polished copy of their own story. For their final challenge, students will be encouraged to provide a video recording of themselves reading their (polished) short story. This lesson is a general look of the anatomy of successful writing.
Lesson 2:
All About Introductions
This lesson sets the solid groundwork required for a fantastic story.
Lesson 3:
All About the Conflict
This lesson is all about conflict development. It will encourage writers to put their argumentative skills to good use by stirring up some trouble.
Lesson 4:
All about the Solution
No conflict is complete without some sort of resolution. This lesson is all about bringing the story full circle in a way that leaves the reader with a sense of satisfaction.

We will be using Robert Munch stories. Reading them for fun will help students to identify the different components of writing a short story. This is completely OPTIONAL as I will be reading a different Robert Munch story aloud each week.
