Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
Children will develop both concrete and abstract comprehension of addition and multiplication, employing Montessori methodologies and materials such as the stamp game. Weekly sessions will be facilitated through Nearpod links, each containing a video lesson and quiz to gauge understanding. Weekly Breakdown: Week 1: Static Addition - Introducing static addition, where no carrying over or exchanging is required. This foundational week ensures a thorough grasp of the stamp game's mechanics. Week 2: Dynamic Addition - Advancing to dynamic addition, involving carrying over or exchanging. Building upon Week 1, this session reinforces and extends previous learning. Week 3: Static Multiplication - Extending the concept of addition, children explore static multiplication, requiring no carrying over or exchanging. Utilizing knowledge from the preceding weeks, they apply these principles to multiplication. Week 4: Dynamic Multiplication - The highlight of the curriculum, dynamic multiplication introduces larger numbers and necessitates carrying over or exchanging, mirroring dynamic addition's complexity and excitement. During Weeks 2 and 4, students will engage in peer-to-peer learning by posting questions for their peers to answer. Encouraging collaborative problem-solving, this exercise aligns with the Montessori ethos even in virtual learning environments. The teacher remains accessible to address queries or provide further clarification, ensuring comprehensive understanding throughout the course.
