Beginner - Intermediate Level
Part 2 of 2 This is the second 8 week section of a 2 part course. If you have not taken part 1, please look through our class listings page and start at the beginning to enjoy the full course. In this class, the student will learn how to prepare and deliver a speech, including techniques for controlling nerves, engaging an audience, and structuring a presentation. They'll also learn how to use visual aids effectively and how to handle questions from an audience. The class will be divided into the following weeks and topics: Week 9: Speech Delivery Techniques for effective speech delivery How to use your voice effectively: Voice control Tips for using gestures and movement Week 10: Overcoming Anxiety Techniques for managing anxiety Strategies for relaxation Mindfulness exercises Week 11: Public Speaking in the Workplace or at School Techniques for giving effective presentations at work or school How to pitch an idea How to deliver bad news Week 12: Speech Critique How to evaluate a speech The importance of constructive feedback Techniques for giving and receiving feedback Week 13: Inspirational Speaking How to inspire an audience The power of storytelling Tips for creating a memorable speech Week 14: Using AI for Speechwriting How to write a speech with AI (Artificial Intelligence) help The importance of audience analysis Tips for creating a compelling message Week 15: Special Occasion Speaking Techniques for speaking at special occasions How to write and deliver a toast How to deliver a eulogy Week 16: Final Project and Review Students will deliver a final speech and receive feedback Review of key concepts and techniques Celebration of progress and achievement The flexible schedule (Recorded Flex Class) allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a flex class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson. We will be going through each week as a group, and I will post the lesson weekly (depending on which day you started). The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic, and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week as part of a project. After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and specific next steps on how to improve or adapt. Time frame for the Week: Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Students can submit questions. Tuesdays - Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the discussion. Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom for teacher feedback and discussion. Students will discuss it among themselves. Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students. Saturday - Sunday - The teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week. Homework will take approximately 30-60 minutes per week, and student progress will be assessed through teacher feedback on homework assignments and speeches delivered in class. No prior experience is required for this class. For parents/families who feel their child would benefit from this course but their budget does not allow for it, I do offer a number of discounts for families of lower income.
