Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
Children will develop a strong understanding of multiplication and division, employing Montessori materials and methodologies, including the utilization of multiplication and division bead boards. Weekly instruction will be facilitated through Nearpod links, comprising video lessons and quizzes to reinforce comprehension. Weekly Breakdown: Week 1: Introduction to Multiplication Bead Board - Students will be introduced to the features and application of the multiplication bead board. Guided by the teacher, they will engage in simple multiplication equations using provided or printable materials. Week 2: Multiplication Word Problems - Students will tackle short word problems, applying their understanding of multiplication using the bead board to solve them, nurturing critical problem-solving skills. Week 3: Introduction to Division Bead Board - Exploration of the division bead board's features and functionality, followed by practice with basic division equations using provided or printable materials. Week 4: Introduction to Remainders using Division Bead Board - Delving into the concept of remainders, students will learn how to address equations with non-uniform division outcomes and articulate their answers appropriately. Week 5: Division Word Problems - Applying division skills to solve word problems, fostering practical application of division concepts. In Weeks 2 and 5, students will contribute word problems for their peers to solve, engaging in peer-to-peer learning reminiscent of the Montessori philosophy. This collaborative exercise promotes shared learning experiences in a virtual setting. The teacher remains readily available to address inquiries or provide additional explanations to ensure thorough comprehension throughout the course.

Children will be required to have the multiplication and division bead boards, either the printable one that I will send you, or even better, the real multiplication and division bead boards! They aren’t very expensive, they tend to be around $20-30. My favorite Montessori material suppliers are Montessori Outlet (US) and Thinkamajigs (Canada).

Her dream came true and she can't wait to share her love of Montessori with you and your children!
