Students are encouraged to work with Microsoft programs.Class Experience
This course covers 4 Microsoft programs- ** Microsoft Word ** Microsoft PowerPoint ** Microsoft Sway ** Microsoft Excel Each week I will post at least 3 times to students. Monday is "how-to" day and a video lesson will be posted for students. Monday is also a post to give students a challenge to complete before Friday's show and tell. Examples of these activites are- "Complete a scavenger hunt in PowerPoint and post your results." "Post a Flipgrid telling 3 ways you could use Microsoft Sway." "Play a Gimkit to test your knowledge!" Wednesday is a check-in post to see how students are doing with the concept and ask them to share what they are working on. Friday is show and tell and I will prompt students to share what they created for class that week. (Most students have free access to Microsoft with a school email address. Check out their website for details. I also choose to have a monthly subscription. If you are looking for advice on the best way to acquire the program for free email me prior to class.) I am a certified Microsoft Innovative Educator and received my training live from Microsoft directly. Weeks 1 and 2- Microsoft Word Students will type a document and use features in Word. Hi there! I am so excited to be here and offering both technology courses and ELA themed courses. I have many great options coming to you as I build more classes.
I have been a teacher for 15 years and have taught from Kindergarten- 8th grade in public schools. In these experiences, I have taught all subjects but am the most energized and passionate about teaching ELA (reading, phonics, vocabulary, etc.). Additionally, I am a Microsoft Innovated Educator Trainer and have a lot of training and teaching experience with Microsoft. I have a master's degree in Learning and Technology.
My belief is that students who feel good learn best. Students who feel valued by their teacher and feel like they are an integral part of the class want to participate and engage in the materials. Building relationships is key to success.
Dogs make me so happy! We currently have four. They are always by my side and eager for all the love they can get. I have two amazing teenagers and a hard-working husband. I look forward to developing a relationship with you and your child!
