Class Experience

US Grade 3
This is a SELF-PACED class, which means that learning will occur using asynchronous messaging on the Outschool platform, and there WILL NOT be live meetings over video. There WILL BE: pre-recorded lessons, announcements, and assignments with deadlines all posted onto the Outschool classroom page.
During this class, learners will be taught common American Standard English grammar concepts for a third grade level. This class fits into the “Intermediate level or B1-B2” for Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Ms. Jackie uses colorful and well-developed slides with fun pictures, clear text, and interactive activities to present the material. The pre-recorded video lesson for each week's topic will be about 10 minutes in length, possibly slightly shorter or longer. Learners will be asked to watch the weekly lesson, write their notes about the new grammar topic/rule into their "grammar notebook" (see supply list), and complete the assigned short homework assignments. The homework assignments may include writing sentences, identifying parts of a sentence, identifying parts of speech, editing sentences, answering grammar questions of various formats, and more! Pictures of the completed grammar notebook notes as well as the homework assignments will need to be uploaded to the Outschool classroom or in a private message to the teacher in order to show the learner has completed their assignments on time. Learners will be provided with opportunities to interact with the teacher and other learners in the Outschool classroom posts and comments. The teacher will reply to comments and posts and give feedback on homework regularly throughout the week. The instructor for this class is located in the Eastern Standard Time zone (EST), and will be sharing content during the morning/afternoon/evening in the EST zone. Parental Guidance
Occasionally, an Outschool-approved video from an external website may be shown during class to enhance learning. These will be age-appropriate and relevant to the grammar topic being discussed.
Supply List
Students will be asked to keep a Grammar Notebook during this class in which they will record the grammar rules we learn each session. They will also complete short homework assignments in this notebook. I recommend a single-subject COMPOSITION NOTEBOOK that is WIDE-RULED. At my local store, these cost only $0.97. If students participate in ALL sessions for this class (over a year), a second notebook may be needed. I also recommend a pack of FINE LINE (FINE TIP) washable markers. I use a Crayola pack with 10 colors, but any brand is fine as long as the markers will not bleed through a notebook page to the next page. Finally, we may use SCISSORS and a GLUESTICK to occasionally paste handouts into this notebook as well. A PRINTER is needed in order to print handouts. As an option, students may hand-write these handouts into their notebooks or keep and write on electronically.

Bachelor's Degree in Science from Oakland University
I graduated from high school as a class valedictorian, achieving a 4.0 grade point average. I graduated college with my undergraduate Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences and my graduate Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy with a high grade point average. I have written hundreds of collegiate-level papers, including a doctoral research practicum. I presented this research at a professional conference as well. In order to accomplish all of this, my English grammar writing and speaking skills had to be exemplary.
I will also include that, as part of my Doctoral degree, I received instruction on Educational Theory and Practice which assists me greatly in providing instruction to children. Furthermore, I served as a college-level Teaching Assistant for two separate semester classes. Please read my profile bio to read more about my experiences!
