Part 2 of 4 The primary goal of this class is to equip students with the tools and strategies necessary to enhance their executive function skills, which include organization, time management, focus, emotional control, goal setting, problem-solving, memory, flexibility in thinking, self-monitoring, motivation, stress management, social skills, planning, prioritizing, critical thinking, and collaboration. This class is designed to cater to students with neurodiverse conditions such as Asperger's Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and dyslexia. The design of this class takes into account the unique learning needs and challenges faced by these students, focusing on enhancing their abilities in planning, organization, time management, and other executive function skills. Here's how the class is tailored for neurodiverse minds: Structured Learning Environment: The class provides a structured environment with clear, consistent schedules and expectations, which is beneficial for students with neurodiverse conditions. This structure helps reduce anxiety and improve focus. Visual Aids and Multimodal Instruction: To accommodate the varied learning styles of neurodiverse students, the course uses visual aids, hands-on activities, and digital resources. This approach aids in comprehension and retention. Small Step Instruction: Tasks are broken down into smaller, manageable steps, which is particularly helpful for students with executive function challenges. This technique helps reduce overwhelm and supports task initiation and completion. Interactive and Engaging Activities: The class includes interactive activities designed to be engaging and hands-on, catering to students with ADHD by maintaining their interest and facilitating the application of skills in real-world scenarios. Social Skills and Collaboration: Activities that foster social skills and collaboration are integrated into the class, providing a supportive environment for students with Asperger's Syndrome and other ASD conditions to practice communication and teamwork. Executive Function Skill Focus: The curriculum specifically aims to strengthen executive function skills, addressing areas such as planning, organization, time management, and flexibility, which are often challenging for neurodiverse students. Positive Reinforcement and Feedback: A focus on positive reinforcement and constructive feedback helps build confidence and resilience, motivating students to actively engage with the learning process. By focusing on these key areas, the "Executive Function Skills - Mastering Self-Management Skills" class is designed to meet the unique needs of students with neurodiverse conditions, enhancing their ability to manage and excel in both academic and personal endeavors. The flexible schedule (Flex Class) allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a flex class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson. We will be going through each week as a group and I will post the lesson weekly (depending on which day you started). No experience is required to take this class. Students will be provided with separate videos to watch for each topic. These are outlined below. The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic, and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week. Homework assignments will include writing a list of topics, interests, and areas of expertise in which the students might be interested in developing a business. After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps to make their projects. Timeframe for the Week: Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Tuesdays-Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the class. Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom. Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students, students will also be able to engage in peer-to-peer review and be able to discuss how they went about completing the tasks. Saturday - Sunday - Teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ Concessions ▬▬▬▬▬▬ For parents/families who feel their child would benefit from this course, but their budget does not allow for it, I do offer a number of discounts for families of lower income.
