What's included
Homework
Once students have watched the video of the week, they will be expected to fill out a provided worksheet each week and upload a picture to the classroom, as well as post a video to answer a question each week in French. Students will be able to interact with each other through the week in the classroom by answering the question of the week and replying to each other's worksheets and videos. Students will receive individual feedback in the form of a short video each week as a response to their videos. Each week, students will also be provided with a Kahoot! game to play at home.Class Experience
Each week in this class, students will learn the building blocks of French through repetition and voice variation. Each week on Mondays, students will be provided with a 5-10 minute video to watch covering the curriculum of the week. Each video will be about 80% French and 20% English to ensure student comprehension. This is part 2 of my level 1 French class (Découvrir le Français) and it is not a requirement, but it is recommended that students take this class as we will not cover the same material in this class. Students are encouraged to repeat along with the teacher while watching the video to get the most out of class. Repetition for language acquisition is key and will play a large part in this course, both in the form of speaking and singing (don't worry, you don't need to be a professional. It's just for fun!). Once students have watched the video of the week, they will be expected to fill out a provided worksheet each week and upload a picture to the classroom to encourage interaction between students, as well as post a video to answer a question each week in French. Students will receive individual feedback in the form of a short video each week as a response to their videos. Each week, students will also be provided with a Kahoot! game to play at home. They will also be able to participate in a weekly photo scavenger hunt at home (based on the online classroom). Some examples of the questions are: How many clocks do you have in your house? Take a picture and show us! What does your bedroom look like? What do you do on Mondays? Take a picture and share! (etc.) Week 1: Time words (note: we will just go up to noon in this class) Question: À quelle heure tu te réveilles ? (What time do you wake up? ) Worksheet (to be provided on Monday) Week 2: Rooms in the house Question: Habites-tu dans une maison ou un appartement ? (Do you live in a house or an apartment? ) Worksheet (to be provided on Monday) Week 3: Days of the week Question: Que fais-tu tous les jours ? (What do you do every day?) Worksheet (to be provided on Monday) Week 4: Months of the year Question: Quelle est la date aujourd'hui ? (What is the date today? ) Worksheet (to be provided on Monday) Week 5: Transportation Question: Quel est ton moyen de transport préféré ? (What is your favourite mode of transportation?) *Students are encouraged to bring a picture or a toy of their favourite vehicle to share in their video. Worksheet (to be provided on Monday) Week 6 : School vocab Question: Est-ce que tu aimes l'école ? (Do you like school?) Worksheet (to be provided on Monday) This is a beginner level French class. Students are not required to have any prior knowledge of French to attend this class. This material in this class is the same as my level 1 French class, just in FLEX format. Students will be provided with a handout to review after each class. Each handout covers the French and also provides the English translation.
