IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a FLEX class- therefore no live meetings of this course will occur! This is a ONE WEEK flex class covering the topic of compare and contrast.

This class is designed for any self-directed learner to work at their own pace to cover the topic of compare and contrast. This is an excellent choice for both homeschoolers or a busy student who wants some extra reading practice after school hours as well!

In this class, we will be developing elementary/middle school reading skills. To cover compare and contrast in this class, a pre-recorded video will be provided where I will teach the topic. Practice questions for compare/contrast will also be given via PDF format with an answer key. In addition, learners will be provided with a Google Form that provides a form of assessment for the understanding of compare/contrast.

**NOTE: Google Forms automatically grade to provide immediate feedback!

Week 1: COMPARE AND CONTRAST

Learners will have the opportunity to discuss the topic and ask questions within our Classroom Posts and Outschool messages. Learners will work at their own pace with frequent assistance from myself in an asynchronous format.

I truly believe that every student can learn. In my years as a special education teacher, I have assisted many struggling readers. My style is enthusiastic and uplifting. I feel strongly about the importance of positive reinforcement and verbal praise in sessions. I will keep your learner engaged with fun ways to grasp concepts and interact with material. I teach using both verbal and visual models and aids.

A YouTube link will be added to our Classroom Posts to further explain examples for the concept visually. I will also provide a note sheet/"cheat sheet" for the topic to save for future reference!

This FLEX full curriculum reading class does not require any required experience or knowledge.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about compare and contrast. They will be able to find similarities and differences between 2 stories or topics. They will use the similarities and differences to compare and contrast.
