 Week 1
Lesson 1
Why Leaves Turn Color in Fall; Tracing/Drawing Leaves
We will discuss the colors that leaves turn in the fall, and why. Students will draw or trace leaves in an overlapping design, using crayons in fall leaf colors.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Painting the Leaf Drawing
We will review the science discussed in the first class, practice wet-in-wet technique, and paint the leaves that were previously drawn.
As a veteran art teacher, I have successfully developed methods for helping children break down seemingly complicated drawing tasks into simple steps for successful drawing.
Students will need:
pencils, eraser, pencil sharpener
paper for practice (printer paper works well)
heavy paper, such as Bristol Board or watercolor paper, 9X12 or 11X14
Crayola crayons (NOT washable!)
watercolors (Crayola or Prang are best)
a template for leaves will be provided for printing just prior to the first class. This is optional for drawing.
