Homework
1 hour per week. (Optional) Each video will be paired with a script and set of questions to help with focus, note-taking, and critical thinking. The student does not have to, but can turn in their answers by messaging me directly in the Outschool teacher-learner chat. I am always happy to interact and respond to students' work and/or questions. With this being said, each presentation will always have a set of questions coupled with it.Assessment
(Optional) Similar to the homework, this will be optional. Each presentation will also be paired with a "big picture" question that will encourage the student to activate their "critical thinking" cap. The learner will be asked to answer the question in 3-5 sentences explaining their answer.Class Experience
Do you love the GOATS of soccer? Well then, this is the class for you! Join me and other students as we learn about and analyze the current GOATS of soccer. We will dive into their biographies, analyze their statistics, and thoroughly dissect the each footballer's profile. While learning, a script will be provided so students can read along with the video if they feel the need to. Each video created by Coach Tom will come equipped with questions pertaining to each scene/slide that the students will answer to test their comprehension skills and analysis. The players we will cover: Week 1 - Lionel Messi Week 2 - Cristiano Ronaldo Week 3 - Robert Lewandowski Week 4 - Karim Benzema The team will receive a thorough presentation, customized by Coach Tom, about the top 4 footballers in soccer. I will conduct the class and ensure that each video is appropriate, informative, and fun! Watching each and every game is not necessary, but an added bonus. My goal is for everyone to learn something new about some of their favorite players and through this material sharpen our note-taking and comprehension skills. Feel free to wear your favorite jersey and shout out your favorite teams in the chat! Activities we will do: - Watch a custom-made presentation on a variety of topics revolving around the GOATS in soccer. - Answer questions pertaining to the team. - Comment in the classroom chat about our favorite teams, players, and interesting information we learn along the way.
Learning Goals
- Comprehension and Analysis: Students will be presented with a script and presentation of the GOATS of soccer and be able to express their analysis of the same (and similar) teams.
- Critical Thinking: Students will respond to comprehension questions relevant to the prominent team.
- Social Skills: Students will be able to meet other students with a passion for soccer! In doing so, they will learn and practice conversational skills through the classroom chat.
