In this 4-session self-paced art course, students will create 6-7 Kawaii animals in alphabetical order.

 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introduction to Kawaii Style; Animals A-F
Introduction to Kawaii Style; shapes of heads, bodies, and types of eyes, Students will draw animals with names that start with A-F, outline and color them. Teacher will direct students to choose one of the letters used in today's lesson to create a different Kawaii animal based on what they learned. Students will upload images of guided drawings and independent drawing.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Animals G-M
Students will draw animals with names that start with G-M, outline and color them. Teacher will direct students to choose one of the letters used in today's lesson to create a different Kawaii animal based on what they learned. Students will upload images of guided drawings and independent drawing.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Animals N-T
Students will draw animals with names that start with N-T, outline and color them. Teacher will direct students to choose one of the letters used in today's lesson to create a different Kawaii animal based on what they learned. Students will upload images of guided drawings and independent drawing.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Animals U-Z
Students will draw animals with names that start with U-Z, outline and color them. Teacher will direct students to choose one of the letters used in today's lesson to create a different Kawaii animal based on what they learned. Students will upload images of guided drawings and independent drawing.
  • Students will learn about the origin and style of Kawaii art.
  • Students will create one animal whose name begins with each letter of the alphabet
As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.

Sharpie (fine or ultra-fine point) for outlining
colored pencils, crayons or markers to color animals
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
