Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
**PLEASE NOTE** This is a SELF-PACED class and is PRE-RECORDED. THIS MEANS STUDENTS WILL WATCH THE PRE-RECORDED VIDEO. There are no live meetings. All interactions between students and the teacher will happen on the class page.
This class will be presented via powerpoint and pre-recorded video. Students will upload images of their assignments for the teacher to see and comment on. This is particularly important if a final grade is required for homeschool or charter school credit.

Why Self-Paced?
*MY Self-Paced classes ALWAYS cost less than the live versions of the same class!
*Self-Paced classes are an excellent choice for families with busy schedules.
*Content is exactly the same as live classes, at a lower fee.
*Students can work at an independent pace.
*Self-Paced classes are fantastic for international students whose time zone doesn't match the teacher's (US Mountain Time),
*Self-Paced classes are a great alternative for students who are uncomfortable with live video chat.

Our Self-Paced format will be as follows:
Content: Video demonstration of the process will be posted. Videos will vary in length depending on the type of art being presented. Some may be as short as 10 or 15 minutes while others could be ½ hour or more. Student work is expected to take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, depending upon the student’s preferred pace.

Drawing Assignments: Students spend time completing their artwork and submit it via the classroom.

Submit Assignment: Students are required to post photos of their completed artwork in the classroom on the designated post. Keep in mind, uploading artwork for the teacher to see is important for assessment and feedback.

From brightly colored beetles, to ladybugs, to leaf insects to butterflies--our yards provide a wonderful home to a variety of amazing insects. Throughout the course we also build on art skills from very simple to more detailed and complex drawings.

Detailed information about what is covered in each session can be found in the syllabus.

Once all assignments have been submitted, parents may request a letter or number grade if needed. Students may also receive a certificate of completion after parent has completed a class evaluation.

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level. In this particular class, I draw on my experience teaching kids and adults at the Butterfly Pavilion, the first ADA-accredited stand-alone insect zoo in the US!
