Class Experience

Students will learn how to recognize the signs of mobile phone addiction, develop healthy phone usage habits, and use their phones responsibly. They will also learn tips and tricks for reducing their dependence on mobile phones and maintaining a healthy relationship with technology.
With over 20 years of teaching experience and a degree in Computer Science, the instructor is well-qualified to teach students about responsible phone usage. They have experience teaching learners of all ages and backgrounds and a passion for helping students develop healthy habits.
Homework will consist of weekly activities and exercises that will take an average of 1-2 hours per week. These will include writing reflections, creating action plans, and practicing new habits.
Learner progress will be assessed based on participation in class discussions, completion of homework assignments, and regular check-ins with the instructor. No formal grades will be given.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Please note, this class will highlight to students how much of their lives they are wasting on screens and the harmful effects this has on their minds, bodies and relationships. Some students can find the realization that they have a screen addiction problem profoundly distressing.

After this class, please ensure that you speak to your child about what we have covered and be prepared to offer the support they will need to overcome their addiction. You may wish to approach local counselling services to find out what professional support is available to you.

Please be aware that addiction is a problem, whether it is screen time, video games, drugs, alcohol or any other addictive behaviour. If your child identifies that they have a problem during this class please seek professional help immediately.

It is important to clarify that this class is not a medical service nor does it present therapeutic outcomes. The class is designed to provide students with strategies and tips to help them avoid mobile phone addiction. The course is educational in nature and seeks to provide students with knowledge and skills to reduce their dependence on mobile phones. The course does not intend to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition.
