Class Experience

This self-paced ASL 1 class does NOT meet live.

This class is a beginner ASL class that teaches what is covered in my live beginner class. This class is a wonderful option for learners who are not able to meet live each week or would prefer a flexible schedule that can be set to their own liking.

Each lesson in this 6 week course contains a video lesson with demonstration of all signs. In addition to the video lesson, handouts are posted that go along with the video lesson. The handouts are pictures of the signs that are taught in the lessons. Students can utilize the videos and handouts to help them practice. Students are welcome to share videos with the teacher as they would like. Though it is not a requirement to share. Throughout this course, students will be given additional enrichment activities to complete throughout the week on their own time. These activities can be turned into the teacher for feedback and grading.

In this ASL 1 class, students will learn how to introduce themselves in ASL, the ASL alphabet, family and people signs, lots of common words and phrases, basic ASL signs, verbs, question words and more!

I am a CODA, which is a child of a deaf adult. I have been signing my whole life as both of my parents are profoundly deaf and it is my first language. I have been immersed in the deaf world my whole life and offer knowledge and expertise in this area. I have a BA degree, years experience working with the deaf and teaching.

Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. I look forward to sharing ASL with you!
