Class Experience
US Grade Preschool - 1
In this four week flexible schedule course, students will be immersed in a world of rainbows as they complete a month-long unit study. Students will learn the science behind rainbows, color, and light while also developing early literacy, math, and fine motor skills. Although this class does not meet live, students receive a PDF packet along with their video lesson for the week posted to the classroom page. This is a great place for students to share their observations, pictures of their work, wonderings, questions, and other related posts. Students are encouraged to interact through discussion, as "talking it out" and teaching others is a great way of reinforcing knowledge for themselves. The video lesson is provided through a link embedded on the Outschool classroom page - this is where the PDF printables are located as well! Lessons are posted weekly (on Monday) with feedback occurring throughout the week as work is completed. Each week, learners will be immersed in a world of rainbows. In addition to the video lesson, which covers the STEAM project and science instruction, students will also have a printable PDF packet for each week. Students have the opportunity to practice counting and early math skills through hands-on games and activities using household items. Fine motor skill practice is incorporated within some of the math and early literacy activities but students will also have a craft project each week to further this skill development. *Supplies are listed below. In the classroom, there is a printable PDF checklist that contains all supplies needed for the entire course. Week 1: Rainbow Science 🌈Video Lesson - What are Rainbows? How are they made? Teacher expertise and credentials
Georgia Teaching Certificate in Special Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Towson University
Hi! My name is Rhea and I'm so happy you're here. 🙂
In 2017, I graduated with honors from Towson University - earning my Bachelor's in Elementary and Special Education. After graduation, I began my career in special education and went on to become an Intervention Coordinator. This gave me the opportunity to apply my extensive experience identifying and utilizing individual interventions on a school-wide level.
I am now the proud owner of an educational advocacy and consulting agency, through which I work to bridge the gap between educators and families. Coupled with my work on Outschool, I am able to provide a cohesive experience for families - providing both students and parents with the resources they need to thrive. If you'd like to learn more about services for parents, you can visit www.myeducationworks.org to learn more.
My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the potential in students - sometimes long before they see it in themselves. I firmly believe in an approach to education that is individualized, empathetic, encouraging, and always student-centered.
In every class, students are encouraged to use their inquisitive nature and their creativity to help them learn through self-discovery - creating a much deeper and impactful learning experience. I believe in student-led learning and creating experiences for students rather than talking "at them."
When I'm not teaching, I can often be found exploring nature with my own two little boys, spending time with my pets, or snuggled up with a good book.
Thank you so much for stopping by my profile and exploring the course offerings. I am so honored that you have considered me as your child's teacher. I look forward to meeting your learner!
