FLEX--2nd Grade Opinion Writing

This class is specifically designed to begin to develop writer's opinions by considering their reasons for their opinions and examples of their reasons. Additionally though, it also meets individual students where they are in their writing journey. The teacher will support students learning some of the following concepts as applicable to their individual needs: 

....demonstrate proper formatting and indentation
....demonstrate proper letter spacing
....identify and insert appropriate punctuation
....identify parts of a sentence (subject, verb, & predicate)
....accurately conjugate verbs
....demonstrate subject-verb agreement
....use phonics to build spelling skills
....create paragraphs using connected ideas
....craft opinion writing pieces 
....revise drafts of their pieces
....illustrate their pieces

I completed formal training in Writer's Workshop while teaching 2nd grade and loved implementing it in my classroom! Friday morning story-sharing is the BEST!!! :)

The live, on-going class is currently on break for summer.

Writers will be assigned between 15-30 minutes of homework each day following their lesson. I strongly recommend that parents set a timer and stop writers at the end of that time from working any further until the next day. This helps keep writer's weekly projects to a manageable length. It also helps develop a love for writing. 

Writer's will present their completed pieces and illustrations on Fridays through posted videos. 

No live meetings, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
