This is a one-time class where children will improve their observation skills and creativity while taking and designing artistic pictures. During the lesson, I will explain concepts and give hands-on examples about light, composition, angle, focus and zoom. Children will also have hands-on assignments after each concept introduction. For this class we will use toys and common objects as basic models to take pictures (e.g. dolls, toy cars, dishes, cups, glasses and shapes), a regular digital camera, tablet or smartphone and a source of light such as a lamp. Finally, everyone will have the chance to proudly show their work, covering all the points presented before. There will be between 3 and 4 students per group. The class will have a workshop format, combining theory and hands-on content looking for the interaction between the students through class discussion while telling their preferences, showing their work and asking questions to the teacher. I am specialized in communication media and photo-journalism. I am a certified teacher and journalist, graduated in Argentina. I have an Early Childhood Education diploma (CDI College, Montreal, QC), a 40-hour training course in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) (Miriam Foundation, Montreal, QC) and a certificate in Emotional Intelligence (Concordia University, Montreal, QC). When I teach, I try to find the intrinsic motivation in students, that thing that they are passionate about, and use it to excite them and open them up to learning.
