Class Experience

US Grade 1
🌿 Writers Workshop🌿
Does your child get flustered when they get writing assignments in school? Are they always avoiding writing anything more than a few words? That's common when they are at the emerging writing skills stage. In this class the writing prompts will be lighthearted and fun to minimize the dread and I will give support every step of the way. My slides with clear visuals about each skill will help guide their thinking and before long they'll be beaming with pride about their writing.

This ongoing class will have one writing focus of each week. The teacher will give a brief lesson on each topic and ask for student volunteers to “say” their first sentence. They will receive positive encouragement and feedback from the teacher and then students will be given time to write their sentences and ask questions as needed. The class will close with an invitation to share their written work with the group. The classes do not build upon each other, each week will focus only on the topic for that week and students can join the topics that work best for them. There will be ample opportunity for questions, feedback and collaboration.

⭐ This class is for beginning and/or reluctant writers and starts out very basic at the phrase and sentence level. It is not suitable for writers who are already confident writing complete sentences and paragraphs.⭐

🤩Welcome to the Joy Factory! 🤩

I believe that all students learn best when they are enjoying themselves in the process, that’s why I call my “classroom” the joy factory, because I aim to create joyful learning experiences for all students.

I have found, through my 10 + years of teaching, that any of the core academic skills taught in school (reading, writing, math) can be taught with greater success (and joy) through topics of interest to the student. It can be even more joyful when the teacher is passionate about the subject. This is why I am so excited to be offering classes about aviation, science, and nature - all things that I have loved since childhood, as well as the traditional reading and writing classes but with a fun approach.

So, if your child loves any of these things too, take a peek at my classes and come join us for a joyful learning experience. I can't wait to meet you!
