TYPES OF CLASSES
In the music classes, students will learn beginning music skills such as singing, instrument playing, movement, rhythm, pitch and listening. I will use a variety of tools such as instruments, puppets, and themed based props in order to keep the learners engaged.
For the themed based classes, I plan to take a cross curricular approach to learning based around one theme at a time. Students will learn pre- reading skills, STEM , art, music and motor skills. Some examples of themes include robots, the farm, and transportation.
In circle time classes, we will focus on the basic kindergarten ready skills such as calendar time, shapes, colors, letters and their sounds, numbers as well as show and tell. Show and tell teaches great communication skills such as asking and answering questions.
In holiday themed classes, we will explore different holidays. Students will learn their traditions through songs, crafts and special activities.
ME AS A TEACHER
I've been working with children since I was a teenager! I believe I was born for it! I have great passion working with children and to be honest, I've learned just as much from them as they have from me! I teach using themes and objectives for each lesson, taking a cross-curricular approach to learning. This means connecting the subject areas. I also believe in using a variety of visual, auditory and kinetic learning styles as we all learn in different ways. This keeps the students engaged and having fun while learning!
